The shade scale

How dark is dark?

VLT is the percent of light that gets through. Lower number, darker glass. Carbon film runs from 5% to 50%; ceramic runs the same shades and goes up to 70%. Pick a film, then tap a shade to try it.

70% · Nearly clearKeeps the glass looking close to factory while the film still blocks UV. Ceramic film only.

50% · Light shadeSofter glare and a cooler feel, and still easy to see into.

40% · Light-mediumA touch of tint you notice from outside, still bright inside the car.

35% · MediumA clean, darker look with real daytime privacy.

30% · Medium-darkNoticeably darker than 35, still comfortable to drive with at night.

20% · DarkHard to see into during the day. Sleek and uniform.

15% · Very darkSerious privacy by day. Check what the law allows on the windows you’re tinting.

5% · LimoNear-total privacy. Best kept to the glass the law allows.

Minnesota limits how dark tint can go on most vehicle windows. Ask before you pick and we’ll point you to a shade that fits your vehicle.

Film options

Carbon or ceramic?

Every car and every budget is different, so you get a straight recommendation before any film goes on.

Carbon

A deep, matte-dark finish that holds its color. UV protection, less glare and a clean look.

Ceramic

The step up. Built for heat rejection and clarity, so the cabin stays cooler without going darker.

Both give you: UV protection//heat rejection//reduced glare

Questions

Good questions.

Don’t see yours? Call (612) 707-2423.

Can I tint just the front two windows?

Yes, it’s one of our main jobs. It matches your fronts to the factory tint in back, and books online as a 1-hour slot.

Carbon or ceramic: what’s the difference?

Both give you UV protection, heat rejection, less glare and a clean look. Ceramic is the step up for heat rejection without going darker. Tell us how you drive and we’ll recommend one.

How dark can I go in Minnesota?

Minnesota limits how dark tint can be on most vehicle windows. Ask before you choose a shade and we’ll tell you what makes sense for your vehicle.

Do you tint homes and businesses too?

Yes. We tint home windows and commercial glass for heat, glare, UV and daytime privacy. Call or send the form and tell us about the windows.
